Careers - Corporate Brand 30 April 2017

One of the largest acute hospital trusts in England, we have four sites: Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic. A teaching hospital with an impressive reputation for delivering a high standard of patient care, our vision is:

As a Trust, we recognise the need to deliver a first class service - to do this we need first class staff. Annually, we hold our Staff Recognition Awards, in which we applaud the many excellent and innovative schemes our staff have implemented to improve the quality of care to our patients, and to celebrate our many staff who have made notable achievements during the year.

Improving Working Lives is a national NHS initiative which aims to make sure we provide you with a well-managed, flexible working environment which supports you, promotes your welfare and development, as well as respecting the need for a balance between work and home life. At its heart is an honest belief in valuing the differences of everyone in the team and providing genuine equality of opportunity.

As a large Trust, with four hospitals and a number of satellite units, we have the power to make a real difference to the lives of patients and our fellow workers. As part of the Organisational Development programme, staff from across Heart of England met and discussed values for the Trust going forward.

These are the values by which we already live and work in the Trust; the values that help us achieve our vision:

Caring
Treating everyone with compassion and respect.

Honest
Truthful and open with all.

Supportive
Working together to get things done.

Accountable
Taking personal and collective responsibility for doing our best.

We embrace diversity and each hospital site maintains a flavour of its individual location and population. Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, serving a diverse, multi-ethnic inner-city community, is located just minutes from central Birmingham - the most popular UK city after London. It is a fast paced organisation with the emphasis on teamwork and a friendly atmosphere.

Birmingham Chest Clinic is in the city centre and provides a specialist service throughout the West Midlands.

Solihull and Good Hope hospitals meet a different population need: they have a more suburban character but equally has a large team network and friendly approach.

However, the four sites have many things in common, such as some truly leading edge equipment and facilities and the very latest corporate governance and nursing practices. There is always a keen interest for our staff to further train and develop within their roles and this is supported with our on-site education facilities - and with support from our practice and professional development team, development cannot be bettered.

Being one large happy team is an important factor within our working environment. Itís not just about having the right quality of staff - we also continually strive for the right quantity - this translates to well-staffed departments and good morale. Also with preceptorship, mentorship and clinical supervision in place support for our staff in the workplace is excellent.

We believe that by having the best equipment and facilities along with the right staff truly living our values, we can put the patient at the centre of all we do.
